An exploration of local resilience and clean energy in Coos County
What: Coos County Energy and Resilience Tour
When: May 21-22, 2018
Where: Coos County, based in Coos Bay
Highlights of the tour included:
Presentations from Pacific Ocean Energy Trust, Oregon Department of Energy, Sol Coast Consulting, and Center for Public Service;
A trip to Bandon Dunes Golf Resort to learn about sustainable natural resource practices, followed by a lunchtime panel with Wild Rivers Coast Alliance;
Walking tours around historic Coos Bay, exploring innovative renewable and energy efficiency projects, including solar + storage stops;
Connecting with leaders in Coos County who are accelerating coastal resiliency and investigating wave technology;
A visit with the City of Bandon to learn about municipal utility structures and priorities; and
An evening reception at 7 Devils Brewery featuring a presentation by ESS, Inc, an emerging storage manufacturer based in Oregon
