Director of Government Affairs

The Director of Government Affairs is responsible for fostering government, private, and NGO relations, and representing and advocating for the state, regional, and national policy priorities of Sustainable Northwest.

The Director works across program areas and in coordination with the President and Leadership Team to craft proactive and reactive responses to policy developments, develop and advance legislation, engage with agencies, and explain organizational interests.

The Director identifies policy change opportunities, participates in researching and writing about policy issues, develops issue campaigns, and helps identify and mobilize coalition partners. The Director represents Sustainable Northwest before legislative and executive branch agencies at the federal, state and local level and handles press and other media inquiries as appropriate. The Director establishes program priorities, develops and manages the work plan and budget for policy related activities, and takes a lead role in raising funds to carry out program activities.

Clean Energy Markets and Finance Manager

The Clean Energy Markets and Finance Manager will support our Energy Team and its network of rural and tribal partners across Oregon and Washington. The manager will support the  E-Farms Program by connecting our community partners with funding and technical assistance to accelerate on-farm electrification. This position will also support Sustainable Northwest’s Community Energy Development efforts to move community-scaled projects from planning to construction. 

The manager will provide financial and data analysis to help inform and drive programmatic organizational goals, demonstrate measurable program benefits and outcomes, and deliver pre-development support to our community partners. This position will also collaborate with policy leads, identifying and relaying barriers to catalyze community energy development projects on the ground. The Clean Energy Markets and Finance Manager will support SNW’s Making Energy Work for Rural Oregon Coalition, a group of nearly 500 clean energy partners in the region, by participating in work groups to help set specific policy priorities. This position supports development and administrative duties, including grant research, writing, and reporting.

Development Associate

The Development Associate is a full-time, exempt, non-supervisory role supporting Sustainable Northwest’s fundraising and development work. This fast-paced role requires an organized and detail-oriented professional with a passion and talent for nonprofit fundraising, effective administrative and communication skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively. This role will work directly with the President and be provided with custom support and guidance from professional development consultants. The position is open until filled, with applications reviewed on a rolling basis. We hope to have someone in place in January 2025.
