Klamath River Basin
A jewel of the West Coast
The Klamath Basin straddles the border of Oregon and California, extending from the high desert to the Pacific Ocean. (Learn about the rich ecology and culture of the Klamath Basin.)
Our work in the Klamath began at the Yainix Ranch. In partnership with a multi-generational ranching family and the Klamath Tribes, SNW developed projects and agreements to restore the ranch, maintain cattle grazing, and help reduce conflict across the Sprague River Valley.

We have supported organizations such as the Klamath Watershed Partnership to help landowners carry out restoration activities. We also helped deliver the expertise of the Working Landscapes Alliance and National Riparian Service Team to dozens of individual landowners in the Basin, including a watershed planning process. These partnerships have pioneered low cost, high return approaches to riparian restoration that are compatible with β and in some cases, increase β the value of a working ranch.
Most recently we have worked with numerous ranchers from the Wood, Williamson and Sprague Valleys, with farmers from the Klamath Federal Irrigation Project, and with tribal leaders to develop comprehensive, community-based solutions in support of the Klamath Basin Restoration Agreement.
