Western Juniper Alliance fundraiser

Posted by Dylan Kruse on December 1, 2014

Thank you to everyone who joined us in support of a home-grown industry aimed at rehabilitating Oregon’s high desert.

An amazing group of farmers, ranchers, environmentalists, business people, and state and local officials joined us at the Neil Kelly showroom in Bend, Oregon to celebrate and support the work of the Western Juniper Alliance.

This collaborative group managed by Sustainable Northwest is turning an ecosystem challenge – the spread of Western Juniper – into economic opportunity for eastern Oregon by expanding commercial markets for Western Juniper and improving rangeland health.

We had 100 people in the room and we nearly met our goal of raising $20,000. Thank you to everyone who supported this important project!

We have only $5,000 left to go to meet our goal! Please give what you can to bring jobs to eastern Oregon. Click here to donate.

This event was co-hosted by The Honorable Chris Perry, Wheeler County Judge, Tom Kelly of Neil Kelly Design, Build, & Remodel, John Shelk of Ochoco Lumber Company, and Sustainable Northwest.

Thanks again to A to Z Wineworks for contributing the evening’s wonderful selection of wine, and to the many juniper artisans who shared some of their works for auction. Finally, thanks to our longstanding Western Juniper Alliance supporters, including Business Oregon, USDA Rural Development, Meyer Memorial Trust, Oregon Community Foundation, and Weyerhaeuser Family Foundation.
